Feast in summer, scramble in winter. Here's the marketing playbook that smooths the revenue curve.
Most landscape companies live in two modes: drowning from May to August, then panicking from November to February. The shops winning right now run marketing year-round and lock in recurring revenue before the season hits.
1. Sell maintenance contracts in February. The single best month to market lawn maintenance is the month before spring, not the month after. Run Google Ads on 'lawn maintenance plans [city]' starting in mid-February, you'll book the whole season's recurring revenue before your competitors even start mowing.
2. Build a real design/build page. Patios, retaining walls, full landscape redesigns, these are $20Kâ80K jobs. Build a portfolio page with real before/after photos, project price ranges, and a multi-step quote form. One closed design/build job a month doubles a small landscaper's annual revenue.
3. Run a winter offer that isn't snow removal. Holiday lighting, hardscape consultations for spring projects, gift cards for moms-and-dads-of-new-homeowners. Anything that keeps the phone ringing November through February.
4. Email your past customers four times a year. Spring cleanup, mid-summer maintenance reminder, fall cleanup, holiday lighting. Past customers convert at 5â8x the rate of cold traffic. Most landscapers email them zero times a year.
Steady marketing year-round is how you stop riding the rollercoaster, and how you finally take a real vacation in December.
